Supported Devices

GOATY's swing analysis, GOAT scoring, and AI chat coaching work on any device with a browser. The device requirements below apply only to Live Lessons, which use real-time AI body tracking that runs directly on your device.

Got an older phone? You can still use GOATY.

Upload a swing video from any device and GOATY will analyze it, give you a GOAT score breakdown, show you exactly what to work on, and coach you through it in real-time chat with voice. Swing analysis and AI coaching have zero device requirements — if your phone has a browser, you're good.

The device requirements on this page apply only to Live Lessons, where GOATY watches you swing in real time through your camera. That's the feature that needs processing power.

Why Does My Device Matter for Live Lessons?

GOATY's Live Lessons run real-time AI pose detection directly in your browser — no app download required. Your camera feed is processed at up to 60 frames per second, detecting 33 body landmarks to track your swing in real time. This is the same technology used in motion-capture studios, running on your phone.

This requires serious processing power. On flagship phones, GOATY runs at full speed with accurate swing detection. On budget phones, the frame rate drops to as low as 10fps, swings get missed, and calibration can fail. The difference isn't subtle — it's the difference between a working coaching session and a frustrating one.

60fps Safari Large screen makes form review easy. Prop up with a stand.
Good Experience Solid Performance — 30–60fps

These devices work well but may run at reduced frame rates. Swing detection is reliable in good lighting with your full body visible.

Samsung Galaxy S25 / S25+ / S25 Ultra
Snapdragon 8 Elite, 12GB RAM
60fps Chrome Latest Samsung flagship. Strong GPU handles pose detection well.
Samsung Galaxy S24 / S24+ / S24 Ultra
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 8–12GB RAM
60fps Chrome Use rear camera for best detection accuracy.
Samsung Galaxy S23 / S22 / S21 series
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1–2, 8GB RAM
60fps Chrome Strong GPU handles pose detection well.
iPhone 8 / X / XR / XS / 11 / SE (2nd & 3rd gen)
A11–A15 chip, 3–4GB RAM
30fps Safari Runs at reduced frame rate but swing detection works.
iPad 10th gen / iPad mini 6
A14–A15 chip, 4GB RAM
30fps Safari Works well. May see slight tracking delay at start of swing.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5–6 / Z Fold 5–6

60fps Chrome Flagship specs should handle GOATY well.
Limited — Known Issues May Work, But Expect Problems

These devices can run GOATY but users have reported problems including missed swings, calibration failures, crashes, and very low frame rates. Video upload and swing analysis still works — Live Lessons are the challenge.

Google Pixel 10 / 10 Pro
Tensor G5, 12–16GB RAM
~8fps Chrome Despite strong specs, Chrome on Pixel 10 crashes ("Aw Snap") during sessions due to memory pressure. Audio cuts off. Swings detected at very low rate.
Google Pixel 9 / 9 Pro
Tensor G4, 12–16GB RAM
~15fps Chrome Reports of low audio volume and inconsistent swing detection.
Google Pixel 6a
Tensor G1, 6GB RAM
~10fps Chrome Cannot calibrate reliably. "Tracking Frozen" errors. Low GPU performance.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
Snapdragon 865+, 12GB RAM
30fps Chrome Reps frequently not detected. Feedback text disappears too quickly to read.
Mid-range Android (4–6GB RAM)
Snapdragon 6/7 series, MediaTek Dimensity 700–900
10–15fps Chrome Frame rate drops make swing detection unreliable. May work in ideal conditions (good lighting, full body visible, stable phone).
Not Recommended Will Not Work for Live Lessons

These devices lack the GPU and processing power for real-time pose detection. You can still upload swing videos for analysis, but Live Lessons will not work reliably.

Samsung Galaxy A16 / A15 / A14 / A-series
MediaTek Helio G99 / Dimensity 6300, 4–6GB RAM
Budget GPU cannot handle pose detection. Calibration gets stuck. Only 5% of swings detected. We tested extensively — these phones do not have the graphics processing for real-time motion capture.
Samsung Galaxy S8 / S9 / S10 and older
Snapdragon 835–855, 4–8GB RAM
Older Snapdragon GPUs and outdated browser engines make pose detection too slow and unreliable.
Phones with <4GB RAM
Any brand or model
The AI model alone needs ~1.5GB. With the browser and camera, phones under 4GB cannot maintain stable tracking.
Phones released before 2019
iPhone 7 and older, older Android flagships
Browser engine limitations prevent WebGL/WASM acceleration needed for pose detection.
Motorola Moto G / E series
Budget Snapdragon / MediaTek chips
Same GPU limitations as Samsung A-series. Insufficient for real-time motion capture.
Xiaomi Redmi / POCO budget models
MediaTek Helio / Dimensity 700 series
Budget chipsets lack the GPU performance for 33-point body tracking at camera frame rates.

Browser Requirements

The right browser makes a huge difference. GOATY requires WebGL acceleration, camera access, and microphone access — not all browsers support this properly.

Safari (iPhone / iPad / Mac) Best for Apple devices. Required on iPhone.
Chrome (Android / Windows) Best for Android and Windows PCs.
Edge (Windows) Works well. Same engine as Chrome.
Chrome on iPhone AI tracking crashes. Use Safari instead.
Samsung Internet Swings not detected, replays won't load.
Firefox WebGL performance issues with pose detection.
Brave (Android) Memory crashes similar to Chrome on some devices.
In-App Browsers Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Google App — all block camera access.
